Workshop-MAGIC AND TECHNIQUE: THE KEYS TO BUILDING A SUCCESSFUL MEDITATION PRACTICE
In this workshop, we’ll explore two essential components to developing a meditation practice that has the capacity to change your world: magic and technique. At different points in practice, and depending on our temperament, we may lean more toward one than the other. But a sustainable practice ultimately asks for both.
Without technique, we can sit down daily without ever progressing or knowing how to work with common obstacles, and without some elements of magic or devotion, our practice can become dry and uninspired. With both of them, meditation can serve its true purpose: liberation.
We’ll discuss a little bit of both: the practical structures that help us progress along the path, and the deeper inspiration that makes us want to return again and again. Expect accessible teachings, guided meditation practice, and conversation on how to build a meditation practice that is sustainable, meaningful, and actually fits into your life.

Laura is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and one of the co-directors of Sama Studio in New Orleans. She’s a graduate of the 350-hour Swan River Yoga Teacher Training in New Orleans, the 75 and 300-hour Jivamukti Teacher Trainings, the 2-year Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program with Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach, and several others along the way. For the last several years she has been studying the curriculum of Tibetan Buddhist Monastics through the Asian Classics Institute. She is indebted to her teachers and these ancient practices which have transformed her life.
